Our laboratory
We have full service laboratories at our plants that test every batch of barley and every batch of malt so that we stay in control of our high quality standards. As well as our own laboratories, we work closely with the most well-known brewing and distilling laboratories in The Netherlands, France, UK and Germany. Holland Malt offers full laboratory analysis to breweries and distilleries so that they can manage their products. We conduct analyses according to standard parameters such as alcohol by volume, specific gravities, colour, pH and bitterness. Our technical team can pre-malt the barley in our micro maltings to ascertain the specific characteristics of different origins and varieties.
Our lab teams perform a wide range of analyses, including:
– Germination testing
– Rapid mycotoxin detection (ELISA)
– Protein, moisture, and enzyme activity analysis
By using these advanced methods, we validate results and accurately assess malting performance, batch by batch. This helps us proactively manage quality and make real-time adjustments when needed.


But we don’t stop there. We also conduct micro-maltings (pre-malting tests) to evaluate how different barley varieties and origins perform before full-scale
production. This added service gives our customers deeper insight and helps them make smarter raw material decisions.
